So as you may or may not know, Becky and I have fallen into the Animal Crossing New Horizons hole like many many people in the world. Because of that our reading has taken a bit of a back seat so what better way to combine our two loves than by creating a little tag you can all join in on! If you do want to take part, please tag us in the post or on Twitter etc so we can see your answers too!
Past Villager – Who is a character you found when you were younger that still has a place in your heart?
A: Maybe a cliché answer but I’d have to choose Harry Potter himself. He’s the first character I was emotionally attached to and it remains to this day.
B: Also a cliché answer but I’m gonna say Katniss Everdeen! THG really got me back into reading, partly because I loved her character.
Blather’s Blatherings – Recommend a historical fiction book that you think everybody should read
A: As I cannot answer The Book Thief for the 100th time, I will pick Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood. It’s a bit of a chunky read but totally worth it if mystery and history are your thing.
B: Oooh, there are so many good ones but I’m gonna say Burial Rites by Hannah Kent!
Celeste’s Wish – What is a future book release you wish you could read now?
A: Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi. I loved Yaa’s previous book Homegoing so I am so excited to read another book by her.
B: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V E Schwab is the first that comes to mind!
Timmy & Tommy – What is your favourite sibling relationship in a book?
A: Ok so not technically blood siblings but for two people almost closer than brothers, I’d pick Will and Jem from The Infernal Devices. If you’ve read the series, then you know my pain.
B: The Song-Covey sisters from TATBILB have great sibling dynamics!
The Easter Bunny – A popular book character that you’re not a big fan of
A: For this I’d have to pick Jon Snow from ASOIAF. I’m not a fan of him in both the show and the books and I never got attached to his story.
B: This is such a difficult question! I’m not sure who to actually pick and the only one that really springs to mind is Leah from Simon VS.- I’m not sure how popular she actually is!
Nook’s Loans – An author you’d give all your money to
A: I’d probably give my money to a lot of authors but in terms of an author I’ll always pre-order for, it’s Leigh Bardugo.
B: Sarah Maria Griffin, let’s face it
The Sisters Able – What is your favourite fictional family (found or otherwise)?
A: The Found Family trope is a favourite of mine so I can’t decide between The Dregs or The Gangsey
B: A book I’ve read recently with amazing family dynamics is The Love Hypothesis by Laura Steven!
It’s a C+ – What is a book trope you don’t like that keeps popping up?
A: For me I’d have to choose the ‘Chosen One’ trope purely because I’d love to see an underdog character be the one to save the day.
B: I’d agree with Angharad but I’m also gonna say I’m getting really bored of love triangles?
The Wandering Camel – What is your favourite book set in a land far away from yours?
A: There are a lot I could choose for this one but I wanted to pick a more recent read which was The Astonishing Colour of After which takes place mainly in Taiwan.
B: It has to be Daughter of Smoke and Bone – the book that single handedly made me visit Prague!
What Would Dodos Do? – A fictional land you wish you could fly away to at any moment?
A: At the moment I’d to fly away and join the space crew in Tillie Walden’s On A Sunbeam or the Wayfarer crew in Becky Chamber’s Wayfarer trilogy and go on some adventures.
B: SO many. Don’t we all want to escape right now? Since I’m reading it at the moment, I’m gonna say Crescent City.
Lots of Love,
Angharad & Becky
